pessimist vs optimistic

Okay, what is optimism?

It is an attitude that always looking for opportunity in every situation. A general disposition to expect the best in all things. Optimists have a tendency to make lemonade out of lemons, and to then see the glass as half-full when it's half-empty. It's an admirable quality, one that can positively affect mental and physical health. Some optimists consistently ascribe benevolent motives to others and interpret situations in the best possible light, others simply disassociate their internal mood from external circumstances, no matter how sticky. Adding in a bit of complexity, the latest research shows that tempering a sunny disposition with a small dose of realism or even pessimism might be the best way to build resilience and achieve one's goals.

In the other hand pessimism is a general disposition to look on the dark side and to expect the worst in all things. Defensive pessimism is a strategy used by anxious people to help them manage their anxiety so they can work productively. Defensive pessimists lower their expectations to help prepare themselves for the worst. Then, they mentally play through all the bad things that might happen. Though it sounds as if it might be depressing, defensive pessimism actually helps anxious people focus away from their emotions so that they can plan and act effectively.

Thus, what do you think? Are you optimist or pessimist?

As mention above, being pessimist is not that all bad. The most important thing is to balance your optimism and pessimism well. Sometime being pessimist would help you prepare the worst case scenario that could happen. But don't stay pessimist all the time. Pessimist tend to stress their self and people around them. By balancing your strategy, you help yourself and people who cares about you. So please pessimists....stop being pessimists for a while, let go of your worries and enjoy life.
